My sister, a history teacher that scours any antique store she finds, recently came across this and picked it up for me. Other than a limited dealing with retirement plans through companies I’d worked for, I don’t have too much experience with stocks—certainly not paper certificates.
It appears to my layman eye that it was originally purchased on November 4, 1981, while Roger Smith was Chairman of the Board. I’m curious to know what 100 shares of GM common stock was going for at the time. The funny thing is that, at $6.00, it’s at least currently worth more than the paper it is printed on.
Thanks again sis!
