1966 Chevrolet Corvette

About a block away, in the short driveway of an unassuming house, the occasional eye candy will show up but, after a few days, it’s gone and never comes back. They come from many brands, are usually a recently introduced model and don’t wear dealer plates. The first I noticed was an Audi R8 but there has been a Jaguar F-Type, 2015 Sting Ray, 2015 CTS and many more. Most recently, it was this 1966 Corvette.

The 1966 model retained the new-for-1965 (and newly functional) triple vertical side gills but eliminated the 1963-65 B-pillar exhaust vents. This particular car was in absolute pristine condition. From the outside, it appears to be a restoration job opposed to hot rod creation. The stock-looking tires surely limit this car’s true capabilities but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Upon closer inspection of one of my pictures, I noticed this window sticker. In 1966, this car’s base price was about $4,300. The A/C option was $412.90 and had been ordered on 3,520 out of just under 28,000 sold.

I rang the doorbell but nobody answered.
