1958 Buick Limited Convertible

I saw this beauty queen at a Concours d’Elegance in Palos Verdes a couple of years back. The chrome contrasted remarkably against the sporty red paint and deeper areas within the body and detailing.

The grille of the 1958 Buick Limited was adorned with 160 chrome squares shaped to maximize reflectiveness.

The Limited model was reintroduced for 1958, after having been put on hold for the war, in 1942, and then dropped entirely when normal production resumed.

The Limited was already an upper Buick model but this one even includes the Autronic Eye (automatic headlight dimming sensor), seen on the dash.

A revised lineup for 1959 included a new set of model names and, again, the Limited was cut from the lineup as there was no direct replacement. At least that makes this one-year model easy to spot and, no doubt, quite valuable.

There are a total of 15 slashes on each rear fender of the 1958 Limited.
