picture post’77 4-4-2… for sale

1977 Oldsmobile 4-4-2

That is to say, it was for sale. I saw this time-capsulized gem in February of 2013, at an area car gathering. I didn’t get a look under the hood but, for 1977, a 403 cubic-inch Rocket V8—rated at 180 horsepower—was the top dog choice.

The year of this Oldsmobile 4-4-2 is given away by its four-section grille, unique to the model for 1977.

The car was in mint condition. Actually, it looked as though it was maybe a few years old. Something off the road in 1980. It garnered more attention than actual relics showcased on either side of it, no doubt worth far more than the 4-4-2.

Not my favorite color but very typical of the period. The two-tone paint does add some needed drama.

And, inside, things looked even more pristine… I expected the new car smell. Check out the eight-track player and tapes.

A very typical 1970s GM interior. I didn’t think I would ever view these as classic or desirable. I see this as both.

You may have noticed the asking price written inside: $8,500.
