A good friend of mine let go of his 84 Z31 Turbo this week…Anniversary Edition. Normally, I think the thought of cars having “soul” is sensationalist, but something about the Z made it magical. I loved the throaty shrill of the V6 with the turbo swoosh overlaid, its flat handling and un-mistakeable looks. The digital dash was troublesome, but it the interior’s centerpiece. And just like you, that was senior year.
BTW, today was my first time ever driving stick; it feels so natural. What car did I drive? A Nissan.
I think I like the Z31 as much as Z32, but for entirely different reasons. Some of which you mention above.
I took quite naturally to manual shifting at 16 and had always preferred it but now I could go either way. Might be my age that’s influencing that change of heart.
